Dodge & Shoot Series

Dodge & Shoot Series field lacrosse drill diagram on a field lacrosse field
Age: U10+ Type: Offensive Duration: 12-15 min Players: 10-20

Five stations around the box, five different dodges, one rule: after the dodge, the shot has to be gone within two seconds. A high-rep circuit that builds a complete dodging toolkit.

Setup:

• Five lines around the restraining box, each with balls and a cone as the defender: up top, both wings, behind the goal and the low corner.

Execution:

• Up top: split dodge.

• Top wing: face dodge.

• Low wing: roll dodge.

• Behind the goal: question-mark dodge up the side and back toward the cage.

• Low corner: inside roll.

• After the dodge, shoot within two seconds, then rotate to the next line.

Coaching points:

• Sell the fake. Change speed and direction at the cone, not before it.

• Keep the stick protected through the dodge.

• Get your hands free and release quickly. Don't wind up.

• Pick your corner before you shoot.

Progressions:

• Swap the cones for a passive defender, then a live one.

• Make players dodge to their off hand.

• Add a feeder so the dodger has to catch first.
