Wall Pass (1-2) to Finish
A combination-play finishing drill that grooves the wall pass (1-2): play it in, spin off your marker and finish the return in stride. Runs at both ends at once for maximum reps.
Setup:
• Two stations, one attacking each goal, with a goalkeeper in each net.
• A line of attackers with balls about 35 yards out, a wall player at the top of the box and two cones as passive defenders.
Execution:
• The first attacker dribbles at the cones and plays a firm pass into the wall player.
• The moment the ball leaves their foot, the attacker sprints around the cones into the space behind.
• The wall player returns it first time into the runner's path.
• The attacker sets with one touch and finishes low across the keeper, then joins the back of the line.
Coaching points:
• Go the instant you pass. If you wait to admire it, the defender recovers.
• Weight the return pass into space, not to feet.
• Open your body on the first touch so the finish is your second.
Progressions:
• Limit the wall player to one touch.
• Replace the cones with a live defender.
• Rotate attackers into the wall position every 5 reps.
